We are pleased that the BC Legislature's Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services has included in its report several of the Federation of Post-Secondary Education's recommendations to the Committee.

Highlights include recommendations to restore full and sustained funding to Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language programs and that government undertake a comprehensive review of the post-secondary funding formula.

The Committee's report recognizes the significant pressures facing the post-secondary system in BC and suggests concrete steps for government action.

As the report states, "advanced education is clearly a priority that reaches across the entire province." We hope that Minister Wilkinson and Premier Clark will move quickly to act on these recommendations.

It's the right thing to do.
