Greg Mather

Member-at-Large

Greg Mather is a student affairs professional with more than 20 years of experience in post-secondary education. He currently serves as President of Local 7 (UFV-FSA), representing more than 1,400 faculty and staff members. Before his release to the FSA, his day job was the Associate Director, Student Affairs.

Greg earned his undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University and a Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management from Royal Roads University.

Since joining the FSA executive, Greg has served on the bargaining team for the 2022–2025 Collective Agreement and currently serves as an advisor in the ongoing bargaining round.

Greg comes from a family with deep roots in public service and labour relations. His grandfather, a lawyer and mayor of Welland, helped shape his approach to leadership and community service. His father spent more than 30 years as a Senior Mediator-Specialist with Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, instilling in Greg the belief that asking questions and giving space are more powerful than one’s opinion.

This foundation has shaped Greg’s strong belief in curiosity, relationality, and finding common ground wherever possible.

In addition to his union work, Greg has served on and advised several non-profit boards, focusing on governance, policy development, administrative fairness, and due process.

Outside of work, Greg enjoys spending time with his cat, Mo, slurping a bowl of phở, and occasionally yelling “fore” on the golf course.
