Mark Diotte
Mark Diotte is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of British Columbia (FPSE). He is an educator, labour relations practitioner, and experienced union leader committed to strong public post-secondary education and effective member advocacy. He brings nearly a decade of leadership experience in collective bargaining, governance, labour relations, and organizational management within British Columbia’s post-secondary sector.
Prior to his election as FPSE Secretary-Treasurer, Mark served as President of the Kwantlen Faculty Association (KFA), representing approximately 1,000 faculty members at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. He previously served as KFA Vice-President, Negotiations, and held several elected positions on the association’s executive and bargaining team. Mark also chaired FPSE’s Bargaining Coordination Committee, where he worked with representatives from all eighteen FPSE member faculty associations to coordinate bargaining strategies and strengthen sector-wide advocacy
A faculty member at Kwantlen Polytechnic University since 2012, Mark teaches in Academic and Career Preparation and has also taught at the University of the Fraser Valley. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in English Literature from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Arts in English Literature from Simon Fraser University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Learning Disabilities from Simon Fraser University. He has also held a Qualified Arbitrator certification through the ADR Institute of BC and taken several courses in mediation from the justice Institute of British Columbia.
Through his teaching, leadership, and labour relations work, Mark is dedicated to advancing fair working conditions, effective governance, collaborative problem-solving, and a strong, accessible public post-secondary education system for faculty, staff, and students across British Columbia.
