Pauline Greaves

First Vice-President

Pauline currently serves as the President of the Langara Faculty Association and an Instructor at the School of Business and Management. Her work spans over 30 years of experience in education, policy, and strategic leadership in government organizations, educational institutions, and inter-governmental organizations. She has a strong record of building effective partnerships with governments, stakeholders, and institutional partners, advising on policies and frameworks to strengthen systems, policies, and programs.
As a passionate advocate for social justice, she is committed to driving meaningful structural reform, shaping legislation when necessary, ensuring financial commitments with accountability, and promoting meaningful social change. Her dedication to these values led to her candidacy for Mayor of Surrey in 2018, as well as NDP candidacies in Surrey South in the 2020 and 2022 by-elections.
Her career has been a rich tapestry, primarily focusing on education and social services, both in Canada and overseas. She has held challenging and senior positions including Deputy Director of the Social Transformation Division, Director of Education at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, and Managing Director and Senior Advisor with the Ministry of Presidential Affairs in Abu Dhabi.
As an educator and a community leader, she has consistently advocated for policies and programs that encompass the values and principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion because she believes everyone deserves to be treated justly. Her MA in Criminal Justice has deepened her understanding of systemic racism, the levels of inequality that are built into our social systems, and the damage that these policies and systems have caused to individuals and communities of the IBPOC and other equity-deserving groups. The key to the success of equity as a priority at FPSE is the realization and acceptance that equity is a shared responsibility.
