Championing fairness, equity, and quality in post-secondary education

We are committed to addressing the pressing issues and challenges faced by faculty, staff, and students in the post-secondary education sector. Through advocacy, collaboration, and action, we work to create a more equitable and sustainable future for education in BC.

Our campaigns focus on critical areas such as securing sustainable funding, advancing equity and inclusion, protecting academic freedom, and improving working conditions for educators. Together, we strive to shape policies and practices that benefit both our members and the communities they serve.

Issues

Post-secondary education in BC faces a range of complex challenges that require thoughtful solutions and collective action. FPSE is committed to addressing these critical issues to ensure a fair, equitable, and sustainable future for educators, students, and institutions alike.

 

Education as a Public Good 

Public education is a cornerstone of a thriving, democratic society—one that shapes individuals, strengthens communities, and supports collective prosperity.
 

Affordability & Funding

Ensuring long-term financial sustainability is crucial to FPSE’s ability to support its member locals, advance equity and reconciliation, and advocate for the rights of post-secondary faculty and staff.

Governance & Autonomy

FPSE is committed to protecting the governance and autonomy of post-secondary institutions, recognizing that these principles are essential for academic freedom, equitable education, and effective faculty representation.
 

Wages & Precarity

All our members deserve fair pay, job security, and equitable treatment. Contract faculty face unstable employment despite providing the same expertise as their permanent colleagues.

Learning & Innovation

FPSE is committed to supporting faculty and staff as they navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of technology and innovation in post-secondary education. From the growing importance of online teaching and digital tools to the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence, FPSE advocates for policies that prioritize academic integrity, equitable access to technology, and adequate training for educators

Mobilizing and empowering faculty across member locals is at the heart of our advocacy efforts. Our campaigns focus on elevating the voices of post-secondary educators, influencing policy decisions, and fostering stronger connections with our communities. Unlock Education

Everyone deserves the freedom associated with post-secondary education. Financial barriers shouldn’t block young Canadians from unlocking their potential.

Workers Together

Workers deserve a better deal, and it's time to make it happen. Despite working hard, many people still struggle to make ends meet and can’t afford to retire.

PSE Funding

Post-Secondary Education Funding is a campaign demanding urgent action to address the funding crisis facing British Columbia’s colleges, institutes, and universities. As layoffs and budget cuts threaten the very foundation of accessible, high-quality post-secondary education, this campaign calls on the provincial government to reinvest in the system it claims to oversee.
