2024 FPSE Human Rights and International Solidarity Speakers Tour:
Making a Place for Dialogue in Times of Conflict

Tuesday, March 26, 2024
1:00 p.m. PT on Zoom

Advocating for human rights has become a contentious issue on many university and college campuses across Canada and worldwide, yet part of the academic mission is to foster an environment conducive to inquiry and civil discourse. The Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC is pleased to present an online forum asking, "How can we create a safe space for dialogue, teaching, and research in times of conflict?" Five experts in conflict resolution, restorative justice, mediation, academic freedom, and depolarization will explore how we can reach across our differences to create mutual understanding in an era of geopolitical conflict, culture wars, and increasing polarization. The speakers will explore various approaches to creating the conditions for constructive dialogue and respond to questions from the audience.
